Hi, I'm Mathew!

If you work with me, you should know:

  • From January 2026, I work a nine-day-fortnight; so, every other Friday is a non-working day for me. My usual working hours on the days I do work are 0830 – 1730; mostly, working from home.

  • Not all disabilities or medical conditions are visible, including mine; and, there are considerable variations from one day to the next in how I am able to function. If I say I can't do something, I'm not being 'difficult' or 'uncooperative'; I'm most likely just pacing myself to make sure I'm not too unwell to be in work at all tomorrow.

  • Because of my Prospect and Trade Union Side roles, I get a lot of email; an average week can be 750 emails or more. This means if you need to get hold of me quickly, email isn't the best choice. Microsoft Teams, either messaging or calling, is preferable.

  • I record meetings as standard; so I can focus on what's happening and not worry about taking notes, and use Copilot (or similar) to produce a summary of the meeting from the recording. I delete the recording as soon as the summary is produced, or Microsoft Teams deletes it itself after the time configured by our admins.
